First comes love, then comes....

...marriage! Exactly one week from today I will be photographing the wedding of this adorable couple. The groom-to-be is in the military and is home on leave for a couple of weeks. So we had to cram in an engagement session right before the wedding. They are quite the photogenic couple don't you think. Congratulations Ashley & Cullin!

all dressed in white...

A dear friend of mine asked me to do her bridal portraits back in April. She finally got engaged to her childhood sweetheart, a journey that began 14 years ago. She was so radiant and excited and in love, she was just a pleasure to photograph. We had 2 great sessions, one that was more traditional and one that was more urban and modern. My faves are from the more modern shoot, especially the one of her on the stairs. Yesterday Nancy & Joe said "I do"....Congratulations!! =) for more photos visit HERE!

"with this ring..."

If you'll notice the post below this one...last month I did a photoshoot with my BIL & future SIL that turned out fabulous. We ran out of time that day to do some shots of the engagement ring. So yesterday Delaney brought it over and we got a few shots of the ring. this one turned out to be my favorite!

For those curious about where my BIL got the ring...it's from Tiffany & Co. and not an actual engagement ring. It's definitely different from what you usually see.

about to say "I do"...

Another brother-in-law is about to get married. And they asked if I'd take their engagement photos. How could I say no? LOL! Not all the photos poses are original ideas, some we copied from other photographers we admired. But I think they turned out really well and display the couples unique personality. You can see more photos from their shoot HERE.

revising, renewing, rebuilding

so i've been in the process over the last few days, of thinking of ideas for a photography webpage.  i told myself i'd never do the "portrait photographer" thing.   seems like photographers are a dime a dozen out there.  the market is so saturated, how could i possibly get any business doing that?

but then i noticed that i've been hired to do a shoot almost once a month for the last 6 months.  the frequency in which i'm asked to do a shoot has doubled.  now granted i don't "put myself out there" or advertise myself as a photographer.  mostly i get work by word of mouth which is free and practically effortless.  but these are lean times, and if i can make some money doing something i love rather than doing the minimum wage retail thing, i'm happy.

i'd like to think that in the sea of photographers out there i can set myself apart by offering or doing something different.  (at least from others in my area).  i offer collages with my photo sessions.  i do some designing in photoshop and create poster sized collages as a type of artistic wall hanging.  so far, they've been a big hit.

so i'm gonna take the plunge & start promoting myself & see what happens.  =D

my latest photoshoot was an engagement shoot right in the heart of downtown Nacogdoches.
